Farm Shares or Community Supported Agriculture, or "CSA," for short, is a mutually-beneficial arrangement between community members and a local farmer in which the farmer provides produce during the growing season in exchange for payment before the season begins. Each week of the growing season, the farmer harvests the mature crops and divides the produce into "shares," for each member of the CSA operation.
Summer Wind Farms offers the following share types: Organic Jersey Vegetable Share, staring in early June Mini Organic Jersey Vegetable Share, starting in early June Jersey Summer Fruit Share, starting in early July Jersey Flower Share, starting in early July Jersey Fall Farm Share, starting in late September
For members who want to pick up at the farm, located in southeastern Gloucester county between Vineland and Hammonton, Summer Wind Farms runs a “market style” CSA, in that each week’s harvest is laid out on display and members come to the farm on a particular day of the week and choose the produce they want within certain limits based on yields and the size of the share the member has purchased.
We also offer pickup at our farm market, which is part of the Dutch Wagon Amish Farmer's Market, located at 109 Route 70 in Medford, NJ. At this locations we pre-fill your box with a great selection of our produce.
You get a subscription to our weekly newsletter, telling you all about the farm and the local produce growing season. We let let you know each week, a few days before you pick up what is going to be in your share that week, so you can meal plan. We also offer a couple of tested recipes each week and a link to our favorite South Jersey food blogger and all her recipes.
Please visit our vegetable CSA and fruit CSA pages, as well as our other share pages for pricing, details and to learn more.
